Am I the only one who has noticed the trend among young people who are cutting themselves? Hold on to your hats this post is about to get more controversial than Dr. Phil! I found the origin of the practice. Look at Mark 5 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man cou ... ld bind him, no, not with chains:

4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

Pay special attention to verse 5! Yes there it is, a person who engages in cutting is acting under the control of Demonic Spirits. Today people may claim that is nonsense and the person is merely suffering from a Psychological disorder. Funny how they claim that yet none of the therapy or drugs they use to treat it are effective. So what's a person to do? I'm going to tell you, and at the same time I am going to give you a strong word of caution! Flip over to Mark 16: 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; wedding bridal wears with 3/4 sleeves
As a true Christian we have been given the Power and Authority to cast out demons. Now for the word of caution, look at Acts 19: 13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? (Compare)

16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN BEYOND ANY DOUBT THAT YOU ARE IN RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO AN EXORCISM. You need a strong grounding in the Word of God, a Prayer Life that is as natural as breathing, and you need to fast often. Oh and another thing if you want to come out of the battle in one piece you better be Full of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise call for someone else who is ready for the challenge! Shalom!
