Customized version of Atlantis 1...
Story behind this dress, Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I was given a box of remnants from my friend Kevin O'Brien of his remarkable fabrics. I made one kimono, before, and then chemo...It was impossible to work, but my mind was crazy creative. My sisters had also sent me a box of books...one of which, The Ocean At The End of the Lane, by Neil Gaimon, turned over and over in my mind...with the visions of this fabric. I read the book twice...and the two entwined...the dress became fluid, The ocean, above, beneath,the motion of the shore all formed into what I wanted to create. It took a year before it became reality...At Sew Woodstock (now Rock City Vintage) They gave it center stage...atop the grand piano. Short Wedding Dresses 2020
A few weeks later, a client, of Molly's was in for an alteration on a tux jacket, accompanied by his wife...he saw the dress from acrosss the room and suggested to his wife she try it on...it was her colors...It was Neil Gaimon !
His wife, Amanda Palmer loved the dress, but it was expensive...He said, you're worth it !
It took a few weeks to come together, but meantime I wrote Amanda, and told her my story...
The dress needed some customiztion to better suit her, but in September she wore it for the wedding of Neil's daughter.
